MÄRZ 2011 Rennen gegen die Zeit...Oilspill threatens 20,000 rare rockhopper Penguins 20.000 Pinguine durch Ölpest im Atlantik bedroht Rund 20.000 seltene Felsenpinguine sind durch eine Ölpest im Atlantik bedroht. Es laufe ein "Rennen gegen die Zeit", die Tiere zu retten, teilten die Behörden der knapp 3000 Kilometer westlich der südafrikanischen Küste gelegenen Inselgruppe Tristan da Cunha mit. 500 Felsenpinguine seien an den Stränden des entlegenen Archipels eingesammelt und in eine Tierstation auf die Hauptinsel gebracht worden. Dort sollen sie vom Öl befreit werden, das nach dem Kentern eines Frachtschiffs am Dienstag vor einer Woche ins Meer gelaufen war. Allerdings geht den Pinguin-Rettern inzwischen das dringend benötigte Reinigungsmaterial für die Tiere aus, obwohl dieses erst am Montag per Schiff geliefert wurde. Ein zweites Schiff mit Nachschub könnte den Behörden zufolge zwar demnächst in Kapstadt ablegen. Die Fahrt dauert aber mehrere Tage. Oliva broke her back in the force of a relentless swell," leaking oil that spread into an 8-mile (13-kilometer) slick, according to the bird-protection group and the Tristan da Cunha government's website. However the slick seemed to have mostly dissipated by March 23. Some 65,300 tons of unprocessed soybeans also spilled from into the ocean, and the vegetables' impact to the sensitive marine environment are unknown, the government's website said. Hundreds of oiled birds are washing ashore, and a preliminary estimate suggests up to 20,000 birds may have been affected, according to the government's website. "The scene at Nightingale is dreadful," Trevor Glass, the conservation officer for the territory, said in a statement. The "grave environmental disaster" may also reach ecosystems of the nearby Inaccessible and Gough islands, both UN World Heritage sites, according to the government's website." Letztes Jahr hatte ich die Zeitumstellung ganz und gar verschwitzt, das Jahr zuvor hatte ich dieses Bild wie verrückt auf meiner Harddisk gesucht und nicht rechtzeitig gefunden, und durch Knuts Tod bekommt es nun eine ganze andere Dimension. Ich habe mich dennoch entschieden, denn ich finde es einfach so lieb und Knut hat tatsächlich an den Tagen der Sommerzeitumstellung morgens noch geschlafen - ihn hat das Ganze also nicht gejuckt, anders dann wenn die Uhren zurückgedreht wurden... Hier noch eine andere Collage von 2009...- I have to admit that I wasn't sure at all if to use the collage concerning the change to daylight saving time, I found it 3 years ago in a newspaper but never posted it. Last year I missed the change altogether, and the year before, I searched like crazy, in vain, for this picture on my hard disk, and now, in connection with Knut's death, it gets a whole new dimension. Nevertheless I have decided for it, because I think it's just so sweet and Knut has actually slept in the mornings after the change to daylight saving time - sure, it didn't affect him at all, different then when the clocks were turned back ... Here is another collage of 2009 ... Und für alle, die suchen, wie es denn bei uns auf der Insel mit der Zeit bestellt ist, wir sind jetzt nach der Zeitumstellung in Deutschland nur noch 2 Stunden voraus. By the way, one of the first reactions came from Japan, a friend who is about to leave Japan for good after all the events of disaster, has expressed in his own difficult time, yet how sad he was by the news of Knut's death. Earlier this week my friend David Booth from Alaska sent me his last tribute . It needs no words. David erinnerte mich auch daran, dass heute am 26.März wieder Earth Hour ist. Zeit-Umstellung...Looking back on time adjustments

Ich habe ein paar Stunden mit mir gerungen, ob ich diese Collage zur Zeitumstellung, das vor 3 Jahren in einer Zeitung war, wirklich benutze. Letztes Jahr hatte ich die Zeitumstellung ganz und gar verschwitzt, das Jahr zuvor hatte ich dieses Bild wie verrückt auf meiner Harddisk gesucht und nicht rechtzeitig gefunden, und durch Knuts Tod bekommt es nun eine ganze andere Dimension. Ich wünsche mir sehr, dass dieses Buch immer zugänglich bleibt, um auch später noch die Möglichkeit zu haben, mitzuempfinden und nachzulesen, welch umspannende Bedeutung Knut in den herzen sovieler hatte.
